I've spent considerable time reinterpreting Picasso's watercolor “Composition (Composition au Minotaure)” 1936 in sometimes complex ways both obvious & subtle -- actually making several
dozen changes small/large & digging deep, thoroughly exploring it. Took this particular Picasso seeing what I felt it's crucial symbolic importance to Guernica 1937, mine at a glance perhaps seeming for
some the original. I continue taking on Picasso -- but in mostly innovative ways from the get go. Seemingly I remain the only artist doing so not considered an embarrassment. Some of the Picasso family &
Guggenheim curators continue to think I'm doing very well. The original just sold at Sotheby's for $16.9 M.
Picasso accomplished what he did not only through vast talents but by his also accessing the Superconscious -- from my own ongoing experience something real, not a fiction I can access at times. Mine for me, must equal or transcend the originals through both innovative & feeling ways to work.
